Kudan Inc. (headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO Daiu Ko, hereafter \u201cKudan\u201d) is pleased to announce that Kudan\u2019s Lidar SLAM technology has been incorporated into the Terra Lidar Dual (hereafter \u201cTLD\u201d), launched by Japanese drone solution provider, Terra Drone Corporation (headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, hereafter \u201cTerra Drone\u201d). This release is an update to the disclosure<\/a> on January 23, 2024<\/p>\n

The TLD is a new product in the Terra Lidar series, Terra Drone's independently developed domestic UAV laser, which has already been installed in 43 prefectures and holds a top-class market share in Japan. It can be used both on land and in the air, with a single unit capable of completing supplementary measurements (see Terra Drone website<\/a> for product details (JP only)).<\/p>\n

Specifically, the integration of UAV laser and SLAM technology, the first of its kind in Japan*1, makes it possible to easily switch between ground and airborne measurements with a single device, enabling introduction with minimal equipment and initial cost, and also enables SLAM to measure overhangs, under bridges, and other areas where drones cannot fly, and integrate the point cloud measured with the UAV laser.<\/p>\n

These advanced projects require software technology that can be flexibly integrated with the hardware configurations required by the customer. Kudan\u2019s technology, which provides commercial-grade SLAM algorithms for mobile mapping, has been selected. The demand for advanced SLAM technology for mobile mapping, including drones, is growing, and we will continue to contribute to the spread and advancement of mobile mapping products in Japan and globally.<\/p>\n
